Engaging with God: What is Worship?

1. show reverence and adoration for (a deity)
2. treat (someone or something) with the reverence and adoration appropriate to a deity
3. take part in a religious ceremony

Defining worship is somewhat akin to nailing jello to a tree – easy to do and yet hard to truly get a hold of. Any definition must have two parts: our attitude and our action. It must include our acknowledging who God is and our living that out. This foundation from Scripture leads us to nine basic principles for our worship when we gather together.
